Introduction to AH Volute Liner in A05 Material

The AH volute liner made of A05 material is a widely used high-performance wetted part in the slurry pump industry. Its core advantage lies in being cast from high-chromium wear-resistant cast iron (KmTBCr27), which delivers outstanding wear resistance, corrosion resistance and impact resistance, making it particularly suitable for conveying highly abrasive media.

1. Material Properties

After heat treatment, A05 material reaches a hardness of HRC 58–62. It features high and evenly distributed carbides that form a dense hard-phase framework to effectively resist cutting wear caused by solid particles. Meanwhile, its austenitic matrix endows the material with excellent toughness, enabling it to withstand heavy impact loads without fracture. For corrosive working conditions, A05 offers strong resistance to alkaline mixed liquids and chloride-containing solutions, with an applicable pH range of 5 to 12. It is widely adopted for slurry transportation in mine tailings disposal, power plant desulfurization, metallurgical mineral processing and other sectors. 

2. Design Advantages

The volute of the AH series adopts a streamlined double-channel structure. The circumferential channel acts as a diffuser with a diffusion angle of 10°–20° to optimize liquid flow paths and reduce energy loss. The peripheral channel evenly collects pressurized fluid to guarantee stable outlet flow velocity. Precise fit between the volute, front liner, impeller and back liner forms a sealed wetted passage to prevent slurry leakage. Furthermore, reinforcing ribs or stamping grooves can be added on the volute surface to enhance structural rigidity and avoid fatigue cracks induced by vibration.

- Mining Industry: Convey high-hardness tailings such as iron ore and copper ore, with solid particle sizes up to 63 mm and above.

- Power Industry: Serves as a core component of desulfurization pumps for handling highly corrosive media including gypsum slurry.

4. Typical Application Case

Take the 3/2C-AH slurry pump as an example. Its volute is manufactured from A05 material, matched with C2147A05 impeller (5 blades, outer diameter 214 mm). It can handle slurry with particle sizes up to 25 mm, covering a flow rate range of 36–144 m³/h and a head of 12–51 m. When deployed in an iron ore concentrator, this A05 volute operated continuously for 18 months without obvious abrasion, with a service life more than three times longer than conventional materials. ## 5. Maintenance & Material Selection Guidelines Although A05 volute liners feature long service life, regular inspection of wall thickness and surface cracks is required. Ultrasonic thickness testing is recommended every six months. Material selection shall be determined based on slurry particle size, concentration and pH value.
