1. General Description
The 2BE is a single‑stage, single‑acting liquid ring vacuum pump and compressor, developed by our company based on international advanced technology and adapted to local industrial conditions. It is designed to handle gases that contain no solid particles, are insoluble in the operating liquid, and are non‑corrosive (or corrosive‑resistant with modified materials), in order to create vacuum or pressure in closed vessels. Typical applications span papermaking, chemical, petrochemical, light industry, pharmaceutical, food, building materials, power generation, coal mining, mineral processing, and environmental protection.2. The impeller is mounted eccentrically inside the pump casing. Before start‑up, a certain amount of operating liquid (usually water) is introduced into the pump. As the impeller rotates, the liquid is thrown outward by centrifugal force, forming a concentric liquid ring with the casing. The inner surface of the liquid ring and the impeller blades form a series of crescent‑shaped chambers. During rotation, the chamber volumes alternately increase and decrease, enabling gas suction, compression, and discharge. Because the compression process is nearly isothermal, the pump is particularly suitable for flammable, explosive, or heat‑sensitive gases.
4. Construction and Key Design Features
4.1 Main Components
Casing: Single‑stage, single‑acting port plate design. Suction and discharge flanges are positioned according to standard layouts, with multiple orientation options (top, side).
Impeller: Blades are stamped in one piece with optimised profiles. The blade assembly and hub are welded and then subjected to full stress‑relief annealing, ensuring good toughness. The impeller is mounted on the shaft by shrink fit (interference fit) without keys, guaranteeing reliability at high speeds.
Port plate (distributor): Suction and discharge windows are precisely machined with optimised port timing to minimise internal leakage and compression losses.
Shaft: Heat‑treated and hardened; the sleeve area is chrome‑plated or fitted with a high‑chromium stainless steel sleeve for wear resistance.
Bearings: Both ends are supported by original NSK or NTN rolling bearings (grease‑lubricated). Bearing housings are provided with temperature monitoring ports.
Shaft seal: Standard packing seal (PTFE braided packing); mechanical seal optional.
4.2 Discharge Valve Arrangement
The discharge port is equipped with a flexible PTFE valve plate, together with a stainless steel retainer. The valve plate automatically deflects according to the inlet pressure, effectively adjusting the discharge area and avoiding over‑compression, thereby reducing power consumption.
4.3 Separator (supplied as standard)
An integrated or top‑mounted gas‑liquid separator is provided downstream of the pump. It separates liquid from the discharged gas, and the liquid can be recirculated to minimise fresh water consumption.
4.4 Clearance Adjustment Mechanism
The axial clearance between the impeller and the port plates can be adjusted via the bearing end covers on both sides, without disassembling the pump casing – facilitating on‑site maintenance.
5. Performance Advantages
High efficiency and energy saving: Optimised port timing and the flexible discharge valve allow the pump to maintain high efficiency across a wide suction range. Compared with traditional SK, 2SK, and SZ series, the 2BE series can reduce energy consumption by approximately 10–15%.
Smooth operation: The impeller is dynamically balanced (Grade G6.3). The shrink‑fit shaft connection and balanced design result in vibration levels compliant with ISO 10816.
Safe for explosive gases: Isothermal compression keeps the discharge temperature close to ambient, with no local hot spots. Thus, the pump is suitable for handling flammable gases such as methane (coal mine gas), provided explosion‑proof motors and flame arresters are installed.
Robust under harsh conditions: The toughened blades can withstand impact from entrained droplets or fine solids; they are resistant to fracture even under large flow surges.
Easy maintenance: The pump cover has an inspection window for the discharge valve, allowing valve plate replacement without removing the pump casing. The packing gland can be adjusted or repacked without dismantling the pump. Clearance adjustments do not require lifting the impeller.

Piping: A strainer (≥50 mesh) must be installed on the suction line to prevent solids ingress.
8. Maintenance Schedule
Regularly monitor bearing temperature and vibration; temperature rise should not exceed 40 °C.
Replace bearing grease every 2,000 operating hours.
Periodically clean the separator and inspect the discharge valve plate.
A slight leakage (about 5–10 drops/min) from the shaft seal is normal; if excessive, tighten the packing gland or replace the packing.
