XINGOU Pump Industry Delivers Reliable 8/6E-XXAH Slurry Pump Solution for Mongolia Nickel Mine – Full Site Service Case

  • Description
    • Commodity name: XINGOU Pump Industry Delivers Reliable 8/6E-XXAH Slurry Pump Solution for Mongolia Nickel Mine – Full Site Service Case

    Nickel laterite mining always brings dual challenges of severe abrasion and mild acid corrosion to slurry pumping systems. Conventional pumps often suffer fast liner erosion, frequent shutdowns and soaring maintenance costs when handling mineral leaching slurry.

    Recently, XINGOU Pump Industry (Xingou Pump) completed a full-cycle slurry pump project for a large nickel processing mine in Mongolia, adopting standard 8/6E-XXAH heavy-duty horizontal slurry pump as core conveying equipment. Our team finished full-site condition survey, customized material matching, precise hydraulic selection, on-site installation guidance and after-sales tracking. This article shares the complete real working condition, technical solution and post-operation client evaluation of this mining project.

    1. Client Site & Harsh Slurry Working Condition Overview

    The Mongolia nickel mine focuses on laterite nickel ore leaching and flotation process. The target pumping medium is nickel leaching slurry before hydrocyclone feeding, with extremely complex physical and chemical properties:
    1. Slurry Composition & Solid Concentration

    1. Nickel oxide ore mixed with silica, iron oxide and magnesium silicate; weight solid concentration stably maintains 28%–32% under continuous 24h operation. High solid content brings strong continuous impact and friction to pump wet-end components.
    2. Particle Size Distribution

    1. D80 particle size reaches 0.8mm; partial coarse sharp ore particles up to 6mm exist in slurry flow. Angular hard silica particles cause severe cutting abrasion on pump liners and impellers.
    2. Acidic Corrosion Environment

    1. Weak sulfuric acid leaching system, slurry pH value 3.5–4.8, long-term medium contact leads to slow chemical corrosion on metal surfaces, accelerating wear part failure if material selection is improper.
    2. Operation Demand

    1. Continuous 24/7 non-stop operation, required flow rate 420–480 m³/h, delivery head 36–42m, stable conveying for hydrocyclone classification feeding without blockage or severe vibration.
    Before cooperating with XINGOU Pump, the mine adopted generic slurry pumps with ordinary cast iron liners. Wear parts needed replacement every 30–40 days, monthly maintenance downtime exceeded 16 hours, and acid corrosion further shortened component service life, seriously restricting ore processing throughput.

    2. Professional Condition Analysis & Customized Selection Solution: 8/6E-XXAH Pump + Material Matching Scheme

    After remote data collection and on-site mine inspection by our mining fluid engineering team, we locked Warman 8/6E-XAH cantilever horizontal slurry pump as the core model, and formulated targeted wet-end material combination against abrasion + acid corrosion dual damage.

    2.1 Model Advantage of 8/6E-XXAH

    The classic XXAH series heavy-duty slurry pump is interchangeable with original standard structure:
    • Suction port 8 inch, discharge port 6 inch, maximum match power 260kW;
    • Flow range 126–720 m³/h, head range 10–58m, perfectly covering client’s 450 m³/h @ 40m working point;
    • Oversized E-type bearing assembly, strong load capacity, stable continuous operation under high solid slurry impact;
    • Split double casing design, easy disassembly and wear part replacement, reducing mine maintenance labor cost.

    2.2 Wet-End Material Selection: High-Chrome Alloy (Cr27 A05 Grade) Liner & Impeller

    We rejected full rubber and ceramic options after comprehensive comparison and finally chose 27% high-chrome white iron (A05 high chrome alloy) for all flow-passing components (volute liner, frame plate liner, closed impeller):
    1. Why not natural rubber liner?

    1. Rubber liner suits fine particles below 5mm and low impact condition; this mine contains 6mm sharp coarse ore grains, which will cut rubber surface rapidly. Besides, weak acid slurry will degrade rubber elasticity and cause swelling leakage within 2 months.
    2. Why not silicon carbide ceramic parts temporarily?

    1. Ceramic owns ultra-high hardness and wear resistance, but it is brittle under frequent coarse particle impact. For this high-flow hydrocyclone feeding duty with unstable instantaneous particle impact, ceramic faces risk of cracking, and spare part cost is 3 times higher than high chrome alloy, not cost-effective for the mine’s medium-term budget.
    2. Advantages of Cr27 high-chrome alloy (HRC ≥60):
    • Rich chromium carbide crystal structure, strong anti-cutting abrasion against sharp silica ore particles;
    • Good medium acid resistance under pH 3.5–5 mild acid environment, slow corrosion rate compared with ordinary cast iron;
    • Strong impact toughness, no crack failure under continuous coarse particle impact;
    • Mature casting process, interchangeable standard Warman spare parts, fast local supply for Mongolia mining area.
    Other matching accessories: alloy expeller sealing assembly to reduce acid slurry leakage; heavy-duty base frame to eliminate pipeline vibration under high flow.

    3. Full-Set On-Site Installation & Commissioning Technical Support

    After pump production, factory hydraulic test and wear part inspection, XINGOU Pump provided one-stop installation service for remote Mongolia mine:
    1. Pre-delivery technical document support: We supplied full English operation manual, pump foundation drawing, pipeline layout standard, NPSH calculation report and spare part list to client’s mechanical team in advance;
    2. Remote video installation guidance: Our senior mining engineer coordinated 3 rounds of real-time video communication to guide foundation leveling, pump horizontal calibration, suction/discharge pipeline gradient layout, motor alignment and sealing gap adjustment, avoiding air entrainment and slurry sediment blockage;
    3. Startup commissioning parameter optimization: After pump trial run, we adjusted operating speed to 780rpm to hit the optimal efficiency working point 460 m³/h, 39m head; eliminated cavitation and abnormal vibration by optimizing suction pipe buffer structure;
    4. Customized maintenance schedule: Delivered site-specific maintenance plan including weekly bearing grease filling, monthly liner thickness inspection and quarterly impeller clearance calibration, adapted to Mongolia’s cold outdoor mining environment.

    4. Long-Term Operation Performance & Positive Client Feedback

    The 8/6E-XXAH slurry pump set has run continuously for 6 months after formal commissioning, and the mine issued highly recognized operation feedback to XINGOU Pump:
    1. Dramatically extended wear part service life

    1. Original ordinary cast iron pumps needed monthly liner replacement; Cr27 high chrome alloy wet-end components only show slight uniform wear after half-year full-load operation, predicted replacement cycle extends to 8–10 months, cutting wear part procurement cost by over 65% yearly.
    2. Sharply reduced unplanned downtime

    1. Zero sudden pump breakdown shutdown in 6 months; monthly maintenance time drops from 16 hours to less than 3 hours, nickel ore daily processing capacity rises by 12% steadily.
    2. Stable energy consumption & low leakage loss

    1. Operating efficiency stays above 70% at rated working flow; expeller sealing structure solves acid slurry dripping issue completely, saving water and reducing workshop environmental corrosion.
    2. Client official evaluation quote (from Mongolia mine mechanical superintendent):

    1. “XINGOU Pump’s 8/6E-XXAH slurry pump perfectly matches our acidic high-concentration nickel slurry condition. Their engineering team deeply understood our mining pain points instead of selling standard pumps blindly. The high chrome alloy wear parts withstand both acid and coarse ore abrasion far better than our previous equipment. Remote installation guidance is efficient and professional, spare parts supply cycle is short. We plan to order 3 more identical pump sets for our new flotation workshop expansion.”
